A Trusted Name In South Asian Food Distribution

Dashmesh is Singapore’s trusted name in premium Indian groceries and dry foods, built on a legacy of tradition, quality, and community.

Dashmesh was founded in 1985 by Mr. Nachhattar Singh, known to many as Nash, with a clear and humble vision — to provide the Singapore community with authentic, high-quality Indian groceries at fair value. What began as a one-man distribution operation has grown over the decades into a respected, family-run business supplying thousands of households and businesses across the island.

Humble Beginnings and Family Roots

Growth Rooted in Family Values

In 1994, Mr. Singh and his wife, Ms. Harneet Kaur, launched Dashmesh Minimart. While she managed the storefront, he personally handled deliveries with a modest fleet of three lorries. Their shared commitment to the business reflected their dedication to community and service. However, with the birth of their daughter Malika in 1997, the minimart was closed to prioritize the growing distribution side of the business.

Between 1997 and 2004, Dashmesh expanded its product line by bringing in popular Indian grocery brands like Daawat and Lal Qilla. This period marked a pivotal shift — from survival to sustainable growth, built on smart partnerships and strong supplier networks.

In 2004, Dashmesh Trading was officially incorporated as Dashmesh Singapore Pte Ltd, ushering in a new era. The introduction of SAP systems and updated operational frameworks helped streamline inventory, logistics, and marketing, allowing the company to scale responsibly and efficiently.

Our Signature Brands - Temasek Gold & Malika

Creating Our Own Brand Identity

Malika

Recognising the need to stand out in a crowded marketplace, Mr. Singh launched Dashmesh’s own house brands in 2006:

  • Temasek Gold — Premium aged basmati rice, known for its aroma, texture, and long-grain quality.

  • Malika — A comprehensive range of Indian groceries including lentils, spices, dry fruits, nuts, and more.

These products were developed to offer customers high quality at affordable prices — reinforcing Dashmesh’s commitment to value and trust. Today, Temasek Gold is available in NTUC FairPrice and leading e-commerce platforms like RedMart and Amazon.

A Global Supply Chain, A Local Promise

Mr. Singh’s search for quality suppliers took him beyond India — to Vietnam, the USA, and other international markets — forming the multi-national supply chain that Dashmesh relies on today. This extensive network ensures freshness, reliability, and variety in our Indian groceries, tailored to the needs of families, restaurants, retailers, and the maritime industry in Singapore.

The company has also weathered major global challenges, including the 2003 SARS outbreak and the COVID-19 pandemic. Through it all, Dashmesh remained resilient – a testament to Mr. Singh’s leadership and the team’s dedication.

Where We Stand Today

What started as a one-man delivery service is now a full-scale operation with:

  • 60 employees

  • A fleet of 17 delivery vehicles

  • Over 1,000 SKUs

  • Serving diverse clients across retail, F&B, hospitality, temples, maritime supply, and exports

Despite this growth, our values have not changed. Dashmesh remains committed to offering South Asian non-perishable food products and Indian groceries at affordable prices – without compromising on quality.

Still Rooted in Service

From that first delivery in 1985 to our nationwide reach today, we’ve stayed true to the promise Mr. Singh made:

To serve with sincerity, deliver with consistency, and treat every customer like family.

That is – and always will be – the story of Dashmesh.
